Few lingerie brands today embrace hourglass women quite as proudly as Curvy Kate.
Curvy Kate started in 2006 with three small stores in London, England. Originally, they were intended to be a large cup bra supplier, but when they found a lack of variety in the market, the team made a defining decision: they would design large cup bras of their own. That was the moment Curvy Kate changed from a small chain in London to an established brand serving women both in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Now they offer sizes D-K in lingerie and swimwear with brands ranging between 28-44. They’re so committed to providing support for real curvy women that they don’t use professional models for their professional shoots. Instead, they select a real curvy woman from their annual Stars in a Bra competition. Some of their models are teachers, news editors, financiers, and receptionists. The only requirement is that they wear a D cup or larger. Their decision has paid off. They’ve won five UK Lingerie Awards, including “best marketing campaign” in 2012 and 2014.
On the website, Curvy Kate explains: “Curvy Kate is every one of us – she’s the girl next door, your sassy mate, your body-loving mum, and your confident work colleague. Curvy Kate isn’t made for just one person. It’s a curve celebrating, self-worshipping state of mind.” Here at Hourglass Lingerie, we quite agree with Curvy Kate’s take, so it’s no surprise that we’ve teamed up to provide their bras in our store.
