What is a Full Coverage Bra?

There has always been a negative stigma surrounding Full Coverage Bras. People think that something covering so much skin could never be sexy- and boy are they wrong!

Full Coverage bras have come a long way from the drab and boring prints of the past and are instead known today for their versatility, both in function and fashion. They are wonderful at providing maximum support, coverage and comfort for your every last curve. Continue reading to hear all about why Hourglass Lingerie is in love with Full Coverage bras!

All About Full Coverage Bras

A Full Coverage Bra can be characterized by the fact that the cup covers the entirety of each breast. The wide straps and back band provide seamless shaping for all day comfort.

While a Full Coverage bra does not show or enhance clevage, the benefits of this bra style fall within its supportive properties. By covering the entire breast, it provides exceptional support by keeping the breast in place. The Full Coverage bra is also excellent at providing ample side support and preventing cup spillage.

If you are looking for a bra with a little less coverage but still optimal support, check out our article on what is a plunge bra.

How Can a Full Coverage Bra Benefit You?

One of the reasons why Hourglass Lingerie loves Full Coverage bras is because they are especially suited to our full-figured ladies! The coverage can help wrangle in uncontrollable cleavage, prevent the horrible “quad boob” of cup overflowing, back pain from heavy breasts, and the apperance of back bulges.

Overall, their support and comfort is simply unmatched when compared to other styles that are cut deeper. We will always recommend a full coverage bra to our clients, and they always thank us after!

Full Coverage bras are also known for their multifunctionality. There are very few bras that can handle running errands during the day and transition to something for a date night.

When Should I Wear a Full Coverage Bra?

Generally, we always reach for our Full Coverage bra when we have a busy day with lots of activities. They’re great companions for those with multiple roles and responsibilities.

Full Coverage bras are the perfect solution for style circumstances such as:

  • Women looking for modest coverage
  • Turtlenecks and Sweaters
  • Fitted tops
  • T-shirts
  • Thin layer clothing
  • Dresses without open back or plunging necklines

When Should I Not Wear a Full Coverage Bra?

While Full Coverage bras are so versatile, there are some occasions that we recommend choosing a different style of bra to best suit you! We recognize that every woman is built perfectly unique and deserves to be equally supported.

If you’re looking for a bra that will accentuate and highlight your bust, Full Coverage bras probably aren’t what you’re looking for.

Other instances where we recommend a different bra style include:

  • Low cut outfits (A bra style that may be more suited for these types of events is a Push-Up Bra. This bra is great at emphasizing cleavage and seduction.)
  • Women with smaller breasts
  • Women with firm breasts
  • Women who prefer less coverage

Although Full Coverage bras are still an option for women with smaller busts, it may be trickier to find the perfect fit. This is because smaller breasts usually do not fill out the entire cup in the way a full bust would. In result, a Full Coverage bra may feel too large or restrictive.

*This does not apply to bras made out of stretchy or elastic materials.*

Full Coverage Bra Sizing

Sizing Full Coverage bras for full-figured women is incredibly easy. There are no bells and whistles here, these bras follow all standard bra fitting tips. You’ll know it’s a perfect fit when the cups are filled without gapping or spillage, the band is snug but can still have a finger glide under, and the center gore is flat.

For smaller busts, it is a little more complicated. We find that for smaller busts, you may need to go down a cup size for the entire cup to be filled properly. Just be sure to go up in band size too so it fits proportionally. The easiest way to size yourself is to check out our Size Guide and read up on all of our tips and tricks.
